The world was shocked at Extreme Rules earlier this year when Brock Lesnar busted John Cena open with a barrage of elbows in the match’s opening seconds.
Despite the trainers toweling the wounds, blood continued to stream down Cena’s face for the rest of the match. By the end, Cena had also split Lesnar open with a chain to the head.
Lesnar’s returning match provided the bloodiest scene since WWE became family-friendly with wholly PG content. With blood so seldom seen today, it added greatly to both the match and Lesnar as a “legitimate” destroying machine.
