Total Nonstop Action is the second largest wrestling promotion in the United States. It was a company founded after the closing of WCW (World Championship Wrestling) in 2002 by Jerry and Jeff Jarrett. In the eight years of existence, the company has grown tremendously.
Starting off, the company would put on weekly pay-per-view shows, generally held at the Tennessee State Fairgrounds. By operating in one area, and not touring like other promotions, the company was keeping costs down.
In 2004, the company would get a deal with Fox Sports Net and TNA Impact! was started. After consistently scoring low ratings, TNA's one-year deal was not picked up by FSN and TNA was out in the cold.
