The Rock returned to Raw this past Monday in Miami, and his cameo was a likely preview of what he'll be doing at WrestleMania 32. Talking. Rock mixed in his brand of charm and scathing insults in a backstage segment-turned-in-ring promo as he mixed it up with everybody from Big Show to The New Day. And while Rock was able to get physical with the latter, with help from The Usos, he had a telling line at the end of his visit: "I'll see you at WrestleMania." Taking those words at face value implies The Rock will not be featured on WWE programming until ...

WWE Fastlane 2016: Titles Most Likely to Change Hands at Event

Posted by Brad Jones On January - 30 - 2016
With the Royal Rumble behind us, Fastlane 2016 is the last major stop on the Road to WrestleMania—and as such, it's the last opportunity for WWE to shuffle its deck in relation to championship reigns. If there are no title switches ahead of April 3, the champions going into WrestleMania will each have reigned for longer than 100 days with the exception of Triple H and Kalisto, who both won their championships, the world heavyweight and United States titles respectively, at the Rumble. That makes it likely we'll see a switch at Fastlane on Feb. 21. The question is which champion will almost ...
When 2016 got underway, not many would have predicted that AJ Styles would be eligible for WWE Superstar of the Week by the end of January. However, here we are—and there should be little doubt that The Phenomenal One has been the standout wrestler of the past seven days. Between one of the most arresting debuts in recent history and two above-average television matches, Styles has hit the ground running in the early days of his WWE career. There were many who thought we'd never see him join the roster, but any doubters have been conclusively silenced this week.   WWE Superstar of ...

AJ Styles Is on Borrowed Time in WWE

Posted by Alfred Konuwa On January - 30 - 2016
Here's something that hasn't been said much since AJ Styles made his WWE debut: The man is 38 years old. Think about that for a second. As much as wrestling fans were in hog heaven during a dream match against Chris Jericho on Raw, their combined age is 83. That's older than Bernie Sanders. Nothing is older than Bernie Sanders. Styles will turn 39 this year. That means he'll be 40 seven years before WrestleMania 40. Much was made on commentary, namely by JBL, about Styles' bright future in WWE now that he's arrived in the "big time." But realistically, AJ Styles is ...
Brock Lesnar was eliminated in Sunday's Royal Rumble match by The Wyatt Family, and that has many fans believing he could face Bray Wyatt at WrestleMania. It's a reasonable assumption, mostly because Brock has plowed through every top name the company and his selection of prospective opponents has worn pretty thin. But the question of whether this feud should happen is still up for debate.   Brock is a megastar and arguably the top star in the company while Bray is still working to achieve full-time main event status. Those facts alone could push this potential rivalry in one direction or the other ...

Let's look at some of the big news stories from the past seven days.   NXT Talent Heading to the Olympics According to WWE.com, NXT rookie Adrian Jaoude has been selected to represent Brazil in freestyle wrestling at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. Brock Lesnar Is Being Wasted in a Feud with the Wyatt Family

Posted by Alfred Konuwa On January - 29 - 2016
Brock Lesnar seems to be headed on a collision course with The Wyatt Family. Unfortunately, the collision course is beginning to look more like a train wreck. As the WrestleMania picture continues to change because of injury, Lesnar looks like he'll get the short end of the stick come April. There was a time when feuding with Lesnar was a main event no matter what. But after lukewarm booking for both parties over the past year, there is currently no juice to a potential Wyatt-Lesnar match. After an impressive stint in the Royal Rumble, the Beast was unceremoniously eliminated by The Wyatt Family in ...
WWE left no doubt that the road to WrestleMania has truly begun. AJ Styles debuted, netting WWE a new name to put on the marquee. The Royal Rumble match crowned a new champion, nailing down one half of the WrestleMania main event. And Dean Ambrose did his best to convince the company that he's the man best suited to occupy that second half. After two straight frustrating Rumbles, WWE righted the ship. Who most thrived at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view and the shows following it? Which match gave fans the most to be pumped about? Who flourished the most at Full Sail University? The following ...
For the second year in a row, Roman Reigns in preparing for a main event showdown at WrestleMania, the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at stake in the biggest match in professional wrestling. As he makes his way down the road to The Showcase of the Immortals, though, he is once again being met with great resistance by fans who are not sold on his one-dimensional character and his lackluster booking. Enter Dean Ambrose, Reigns' best friend on- and off-screen, a wrestler not nearly as physically impressive but whose unique charisma and on-screen presence have fans completely invested in the so-called Lunatic Fringe. And ...

Examining Kevin Owens’ Direction, Upside and Long-Term Potential

Posted by Ryan Dilbert On January - 29 - 2016
Kevin Owens belongs on top of the WWE mountain, a cackling monster batting away those climbing up toward him. In Owens, WWE has a wrestler it can build around. He is intimidating and enthralling, an artisan of insults and a freight train in wrestling boots. Building the right track for that train will be key in allowing him to reach his full speed. For now, WWE seems undecided as to what to make of him. On one hand, it has presented him as a man on the rise. He knocked off John Cena in his first match on the main roster. He regularly ...
