The latest WWE rumors explore where Randy Orton fits into the Hell in a Cell landscape and what officials have in mind for him going forward. Backstage reports suggest that he may be left out of the spotlight at the upcoming pay-per-view despite hanging around the periphery of the feud between Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose. Various possibilities appear to still be in play, including having Orton undergo a shift in personality.  Other rumors center around NXT and Bray Wyatt. A recent report gives fans reason to believe that Hideo Itami and Finn Balor will be promoted soon. As for Wyatt, a cryptic ...

Total Divas Overlap Is Hurting WWE Divas Division

Posted by Ryan Dilbert On September - 30 - 2014
Total Divas is the anvil tied to the WWE Divas division's ankles.  The company is ensuring that its Divas division fails so that the reality show may succeed. It's a backward way of thinking, adjusting its primary programming to suit a supplementary offering. The result is a narrative mess that features some of the least talented wrestlers WWE has ever employed. WWE and Total Divas bleeding into each other is poisoning the former. The kind of focus that Eva Marie and Rosa Mendes are getting because of their spots on the reality show makes as much sense as pushing Mark Henry because his penguin-centered ...

Delay of WWE Network in UK Underscores the Importance of WWE’s TV Rights Deals

Posted by Chris Harrington On September - 30 - 2014
Many European wrestling fans were greatly disappointed with Monday's revelation from the WWE that the launch of the U.K. version of the WWE Network has been delayed. Last month, when the WWE Network expanded to more than 170 countries, the press release said "the network is expected to be live in the UK by this October." However, as of today, the WWE Network FAQ for the United Kingdom reads, "The launch of WWE Network in the U.K. will be delayed given discussions with potential partners. A launch date will be announced by November 1." The last-minute delays in officially launching the WWE Network ...

Predicting Whether Dolph Ziggler Will Ever Get Back to the Main Event Scene

Posted by Sharon Glencross On September - 30 - 2014
Following his badly botched run with the World Heavyweight Championship in the spring of 2013, Dolph Ziggler has been languishing in the midcard, seemingly banished from the main event scene. But will he ever return to main events? Right now, things look bleak. He has the Intercontinental Championship, but how much does that mean, anyway? Consider how badly the company has marginalized its secondary title. Is giving Ziggler the belt really that much of a promotion? Not exactly. There are other issues. His current babyface character isn't particularly entertaining or over with the fans. Ziggler had a few funny moments when he mocked Hollywood ...

WWE Hinting at a Fatal 4-Way Main Event at Hell in a Cell

Posted by Ryan Dilbert On September - 30 - 2014
The Hell in a Cell main event promises to be a crowded one. Many WWE fans assumed that the upcoming pay-per-view would offer another chance for Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose to tear at each other's throats, but things have since gotten complicated. Monday's Raw pointed to that grudge match turning into a Fatal 4-Way. The timing seemed perfect to pit Ambrose and Rollins against each other in the Hell in a Cell. Their rivalry was already plenty intense and personal when Rollins crushed his former partner's head against a stack of cinder blocks. A surprise return at Night of Champions a month later ...

WWE Classic of the Week: Sheamus vs. Big Show from Hell in a Cell 2012

Posted by Erik Beaston On September - 30 - 2014
There is a common misconception, which started sometime around the dawn of the Internet and smart mark age, that suggests that two big men cannot have a quality wrestling match. Fans take one look at a heavyweight or super heavyweight and lose faith that they can deliver between the ropes, greeting them with chants of "you can't wrestle" or downplaying their value to the product. In October 2012 at Hell in a Cell, world heavyweight champion Sheamus and The Big Show set out to prove detractors wrong. They would succeed, delivering a dark-horse candidate for Match of the Year as well as establishing ...

The Rise of NXT Will Benefit John Cena’s Run as WWE’s Top Star

Posted by Tom Clark On September - 30 - 2014
John Cena is WWE's top star, its No. 1 talent and standard-bearer. For over 10 years, WWE has built its storylines and ongoing weekly drama around Cena and everything that he is. The two are inseparable, and one is synonymous with the other. But his issues with having the full support of the crowd at times seem to be growing more complicated by the week. Try as it might, WWE just cannot seem to get past the crowd's hate of Cena and his struggles with maintaining the respect that he has earned in the ring. However, the rise of NXT may actually benefit ...
