WWE SummerSlam 2013: Superstars Who Must Find Direction at PPV

Posted by The Doctor Chris Mueller On July - 30 - 2013
WWE is full of different storylines they can choose from to fill up the SummerSlam card, but some of the superstars involved are in need of a new direction, or a direction to begin with. John Cena is in the biggest program in WWE right now with Daniel Bryan, but the program seems to be more about Bryan and Vince McMahon and less about John Cena. RVD returned to a lot of hype and fanfare, but since Money in the Bank, he has yet to find a feud that suits him. And that's just the tip of the iceberg. Even with all ...

Randy Orton Attacked by Fan at WWE Event in South Africa

Posted by Ethan Grant On July - 30 - 2013
WWE star Randy Orton is fully equipped to withstand the body blows he incurs during the course of a 10-minute bout in the ring. However, he wasn't prepared for what happened on Tuesday night, when a fan entered the ring and did his best impression of a WWE heel during a company event in Cape Town, South Africa.  WWE.com's Staff provided details: WWE.com has learned that Randy Orton was violently attacked by an audience member during a SmackDown World Tour Live Event in Cape Town, South Africa, this evening. Footage of the attack was captured by a WWE fan and posted to YouTube, and shows the ...

WWE News: The Usos’ Chance of Competing at SummerSlam Looks Slim

Posted by Chris Featherstone On July - 30 - 2013
For over three years, the Usos have been on a quest to become tag team champions in the WWE. A few times they were close to winning, but have never been able to win when it counts the most. After debuting on WWE TV in 2010 with another second-generation superstar—Tamina Snuka—they embarked on a feud with the Hart Dynasty that gave us some of the best tag team matches a division can have. However, they were unable to obtain the tag titles, and eventually Tamina decided to leave the team. About a year after their debut, the Usos once again focused on winning ...

Exploring John Cena’s Place in WWE History

Posted by Ryan Dilbert On July - 30 - 2013
John Cena, childish humor, cloying goofiness and all, will be remembered as one of WWE's best ever. He won't be remembered as one of the better wrestlers but one of the biggest megastars of all time. Put him in the same category as Hulk Hogan and Bruno Sammartino. A number of men were more talented in the ring than those two, but a select few have risen to the mountain top and made their home there like they did and Cena has today. No fan favorite has drawn as much ire as Cena. Chants denouncing his skills cut through the cheers. For some, ...
The Undertaker versus Bret Hart with Shawn Michaels as the special referee match at SummerSlam 1997 was a key character and career moment for all involved. It was one of my favorite main events ever.In the heart of New Jersey, this really was WWE going all in with the anti-American Hart. The stipulation carried that if Hart didn't win the WWE Championship from The Undertaker, he would never wrestle on American soil again.A half-hour classic that saw a variety of styles showcased. Technical wrestling on the match, a brawl and of course a famous chair shot. The ending of the ...

WWE: Daniel Bryan to Receive ‘More Corporate’ Look?

Posted by Joe Johnson On July - 30 - 2013
It passed by without many of us picking up on it. When Triple H was confronting his father-in-law about Vince's qualms with Daniel Bryan, Stephanie McMahon stepped in and made a suggestion.  She inquired about the possibility of giving goat-faced Daniel Bryan a "more corporate look." This obviously is playing into the McMahon Family drama story line as the powers at be seek to influence the main event scene. Triple H thinks Bryan has proven himself and wants to listen to the overwhelming support of the WWE Universe. Vince doesn't think Bryan fits in the WWE main event. Stephanie is trying to ...
After over 18 months stuck in the upper midcard and away from the World title scene, Randy Orton stormed back to relevance by winning the much-coveted briefcase at the Money in the Bank pay-per-view. Orton's victory was somewhat of a surprise. Daniel Bryan seemed a much more likely victor. Or maybe even Rob Van Dam, who was making his big return to the company after a six-year hiatus. But Orton, who had been stuck with a stagnant face character and lacked any real direction for ages? With his high-profile victory, though, it appeared that WWE was willing to overlook the wrestler’s flaws—namely his ...
